Now that the summer is over, it’s back to work. Back to pants and collared shirts. Back to a time of semi-normalcy and sometimes mundane tasks. But also a time to think ahead and plan for the next year, as well as map out our projects for the upcoming year. I’m excited to get back to the swing of things. Tuesday will be crazy busy, with Avaya, teachers, meetings, meetings, teachers, meetings, union’s still a mess, meetings, catching up, how was your summers, etc. But, i can’t wait, seriously.
This summer we accomplished so much. With a NetBoot and NetRestore server we were able to image every single machine in the HS, all the iBooks in the district, the U & PP labs. There we bumps, but we overcame those. We also got the Barracuda email/virus filter working in place. That kicks ass. It’s actually really cool. Statistically speaking, since Wednesday, we have 13,438 emails from the outside, of which, 11,056 were SPAM. WOW, that means that roughly 2000 emails were LEGIT! We also upgraded the email client, put new forms into effect, redesigned the U Lab. Secured our servers in the HS and divided them up even more for Open Directory / Remote Homes (Faculty Only) and AFP for the Students. Chris did an amazing job on the image, but like anything, we found some things we missed. No biggie, images can change and be deployed over night going forward.
I’d say, we did a lot of work. Oh, we did meet all of our goals for the summer, except the one thing we never have time for.
Well enough tech talk. See you on tuesday.
