ring ring ring ring banana bunker

Cultured Containers has developed the BananaBunker® to protect this delicate fruit from bruising when placed in your backpack, nap sack, soft carrying case, or briefcase. The container also protects your backpack’s valuable contents, such as CD players, textbooks, binders, and business documents. Sex toy or neo-tupperware banana holder, you decide?

Edison’s rolling over in his Menlo Park grave

EDISON, N.J. - One of the inventions that put this central New Jersey town on the map could go the way of the typewriter and the horse and buggy if some lawmakers have their way.

The incandescent light bulb, perfected for mass use by Thomas A. Edison in the late 19th century, is being supplanted by fluorescent lighting that is more efficient and longer lasting.

Last month, California Assemblyman Lloyd Levine announced he would propose a bill to ban the use of incandescent bulbs in his state.

And Thursday, New Jersey Assemblyman Larry Chatzidakis introduced a bill that calls for the state to switch to fluorescent lighting in government buildings over the next three years.

Anna’s Dead and it’s cold outside

The only thing frozen is the yogurt and veggie burgers in my freezer! The New Amsterdams are playing next Saturday, Bright Eyes and the Decemberists also, Fountains of Wayne in April. I like the Peter Bjorn and John records. Kinda sounds like The Beatles. Poppy and fun, but classic at the same time.

i hate ICE or welcome back from vacation, go ahead and throw $400 down the drain, literally.

As my previous post states, i arrived home from Florida, late, but home. The plane was delayed and we parked on the tarmac for an hour and change until it was finally ready to depart. My momzorz came to get me from the aeropuerta and drove me back to union to my grandmother’s house where my car was parked frozen for days. i started it up and warmed it while we chatted and have wheat cheese ravioli and tomatoes, yum-o (damn you rachel ray)

finally, i left and around midnight, i arrived at home. i found it warm and heard a NOISE! the sound of frozen pipes and a cracked faucet. after waking my parents, and everyone else, i found the water shut-off valve (in the common garage area) and managed the water flow. it didn’t stop, so i slept with 2 ears open, reminiscent of the cleveland steamer part two story from lodi.

so in the AM, i called the plumber and he showed up, stopped the leaking which was from a cracked faucet ($400), but not the frozen pipes. i filled the tub with hot water and tried that with a space heater but shut it off and went to work, dirty and angry.

did my job and called some people trying to find the possible source of the clog or exposed area of frozenness. my condo-president lady was not so helpful, seemed like she didnt want to be bothered and in the end it was not really her problem anyway.

so, after work, i hacked and heated and tried to no avail to break the ice. i decided what i needed was a hair dryer and some good old fashioned taco bell.

well, sure enough, it worked motherfuckers! the ice is gone and the water drained. now, i gotta put shizzle back together, clean up a little and shower.

i guess this is growing up

jacksonville update #2

After the Superbowl party at Adam’s coworkers house we stopped at the friendliest Taco Bell around. It was truly a happy place to be. Yesterday, Renee and I went Thrift Store shopping and stopped at Sonic for milk shakes and fries. Sonic is cool, it’s an old drive in type fast food place. Had some Italian food as Rosalita’s for dinner and watched moves and television until late.

Today, Adam and I loaded up the boat with it’s boat-stuff and headed out on the St. Johns River. It was chilly on the water because it was windy. We survived and had a blast. I got to drive the boat, see helicopters and planes landing at Nasjax. Don’t worry, i got pictures and see some amazing houses on the water. So, yeah, am now on the airport and heading back up north to cold-ass home. I had a great time, it was fun. Relaxed, hung out, drank, saw LTJ, saw all of Jax. I learned alot from Adam and Renee. I think that was the best part. We talked about our family, the history, architecture, life, music, movies, etc etc etc. Oh shit, we went to a horsefarm and Renee rode the horses and i got to pet them. That was cool and not too smelly.

I am super content that i spent my vacation here even though it was cold for Florida and not too sunny. I don’t think i even have a tan, but i guess others will have to be the judge of that. Pictures will be uploaded to flickr upon arrival. Why doesn’t EWR have wifi? Just a question.

Adam and I saw LTJ last night at Jackrabbits in Jacksonville. Shityeaah, they played In With The Outcrowd, which is great, but not my favorite. They did, play many great old songs, like Johnny Quest, My Own Flag, SUGAR IN YOUR GAS TANK, Metalheads, but i didn’t hear Dopeman nor Automatic, but that’s OK. Either way it was awesome and fun. Pictures will be online soon.

jacksonville update #1

So far Jacksonville had been awesome. It was really nice yesterday, warm, sunny and bright. Today was a little cloudy and chilly enough for a hoodie at times. Yesterday after arriving at Adam and Renee’s house, and meeting Renee, Adam and i met some of his basketball friends and coworkers for a game. I’m outta shape, that’s for sure.

Showered up and hung out and relaxed and then headed off to The Mellow Mushroom for drinks and dinner. Good food and i had 2 new beers. Orange Blossom Ale and a Hazed And Infused.

Today we headed south to Historical St. Augustine. It’s the oldest city in the country. We drove by the Fountain of Youth, close enough for me and then walked around St. George Street. It’s cool there, old-styled buildings with the oldest school house in the country. Pictures will be posted when i get home. We walked around Castille de san Marco, drove on the beach and saw some of Adam’s buildings. We walked around the site his company is working on and i learned about some construction stuff. We also had lunch at The Manatee Cafe. I had a tofu Ruben. So good. We’ve been mapping everything out, so i know where I’ve been and whatnot.

Tonight is Less Than Jake, can’t wait!
