Friday: Clash Bar to see The Smith’s cover band. They were good and really played the part really well. Hung out with Monica and Mike, Dave, Dim, Lauren and Sheindel met us.
Saturday: Consulting Gig, Ping Pong, Veggie Heaven Teaneck, Bowling, The Shannon Rose. Consulting was fun, Ping Pong at Ed’s was awesome. I’m so good, well for a sport, I’m good and probably better than my friends. Veggie Heaven was awesome, as usual, and I had something new! It was okra, beef, chicken and more veggies in a curry sauce in a hot pot. Bowling was fun, Good amount of people and fun was had by all. The Shannon Rose is a wannabe Irish pub but the north jersey meatheads make it a meathead bar. There were fights, slutty girls, cover band playing pop hits and more AX and bling around necks than the GSP. Hung out with Lauren, Dim, Dave, Meg, John, Eileen, Ed, Steve and met some Doctors and Claire later.
Sunday: It’s been pouring all freakin day. I was at Lauren’s and I had to move our cars since they were under water again. Her’s was almost into the door. I got her car out of there no problem. Mine wasn’t under water, but i tried to drive through the water and killed the engine. Finally, I got it out and now the engine and oil lights are on. I probably be OK. Now, I’m home and I have a crack in my bedroom window frame. That seems to be better now. Knock and wood frame, so I hope I’ll be fine. Well, no more rain in my condo. Lauren got a call that her place was under voluntary evacuation. There shouldn’t be a voluntary or involuntary. It should be get out or stay. At any point of the day, you can leave you’re own home. Just something to think about. So, we headed over there to get the cats because they were going to be living with me for a week when she’s in Italy* and to get clothes, etc so she can crash here and go to work from here. This reminds me of the last time there was rain and we both had to evacuate. That time it was NOT voluntary. Adam saved the day that time. So, we arrived back in Lodi, the flood capital of Bergen County. Firefighters galore and rumor of a rescue boat on the washed over parking lot. I dropped Lauren at the top of the entrance way and she jumped through the water, ankle high at that point, to get to her apartment. I parked across the street and ran over to help. I got there and it was a little higher. The people who live next to the Hackensack River, at the end of the complex where completely flooded in. The river was ONE foot deep and the basements of the complex where, in my guesstimation, soaked. Of course, someone, in a haste to get inside forgot her phone and I ran back out to get it. Some of our other friends where evacuating the complex and we wanted to see if they were OK and where they were going, blah, etc. The water rose a few more inches in the time it took me to get back to the apartment. Packed up, a few more phone calls, etc and headed back to safety. We reached the part of the walkway where the water started to get deep and it literally came up to my knees, no lie. We made it through and got into our respective cars and headed to semi-flooded Garfield. We left the cats for tomorrow, because it’s easier. Especially since I received the best phone call of all day. No School Tomorrow! So now we are dry and Lauren’s sleeping. I can’t wait to see the damage tomorrow to the parking lot. It’s sort of funny because after the aforementioned storm when we stayed at Adam’s house, Vista Garden’s paved and reworked the lot so there wouldn’t be such massive floodings and the drainage systems would work better. I knew it was bound to fail and it did. I know the river is in the backyard of the complex, but still.
On the way from Lodi to Garfield, Lauren went up Arnot which was good and the streets where open. I tried to go another way across main street and onto passaic street. The bridge was flooded over I had to go all the way down Main. There was minor flooding on Main, but 7-11 and Twin Peaks gogo bar was still open, in case you want boobs and smokes/slurpees.
I’m keeping one ear open and I’m readying myself in case the water seeps into my window again, but I think I figured it out and will buy the proper patching products tomorrow.
So that was my weekend. Anyone else’s weekend as fun?
