iPhone Hype

Read the roundup from the first batch of iPhone reviews here. I’d like to get one, but i think it’s too much in one for me. Either way, it is freaking amazing looking and who knows, it could be the most amazing toy ever. First generation  apple releases are never great as history shows.

Fun filled Saturday

Claudio was back in NJ visiting before he departed back to Rome. He’ll be back in the States in September. He’s such a nice person and really taught me some interesting things. Well, either way, Lauren, Claudio and I headed into NYC to hang out in Chinatown and then walk around the city a little. We met Lauren’s parents at her Grandmother’s apartment after stopping for bow at Dragonland Bakery. I love the red bean bow (bun)! So simple, yet so fresh and tasty. After that fix, Lauren’s father, Lucian, took us around Chinatown basically to show Claudio some fun things. I’ve been to most of the places before except to the Buddhist Temple where her family is memorialized. It was a very interesting place and very spiritual. Full of traditional Buddhist beliefs and history in the heart of Chinatown. The largest Buddha created from one full solid piece of jade is also housed here. It was breathtakingly amazing.

Post Chinatown, we headed uptown to Times Square in an effort to walk a few blocks and site see. Made it to MoMA so Claudio could take a few pictures and then headed to the Park. Did a cut across and headed to Whole Foods for lunch. From there, we headed up to 80th to meet Lauren’s second cousin, Joyce. We saw her co-op and it was sweet and then headed to grab some dessert. We ended up going to Cafe Lalo. It was packed but the food was fresher than I could imagine and sweet and yummy.

After some more walking, we walked a few blocks, jumped into the train and headed back to Chinatown. It was so busy and bumping at that point. Left Lauren’s family and headed home.

It was a great day of walking around, roughly 45 blocks, a lap around Chinatown and more. The sun was shinning and I got to see the Apple Cube for the first time. I totally put Leafygreen on as many machines as I could too. Shameless self promotion!

Check out flickr for pictures (they will be on later tonight)

Dogca Universal Wellness

I recently finished designing the site Dogca Universal Wellness. It’s a pretty standard HTML site with a flash intro and a fun/pastel color scheme.

Check it out if you want more information about Reiki, Shamanic Energy Healing, Feng Shui, Reflexology and Chakras.

Dogca is located in Midland Park, NJ. Tell Dorothea that Mike from Leafygreen sent ya.

Dinner and Tournament on Saturday for CEDs birthday was fun. The horses are awesome and so well trained. However the only cowboy I saw was in the car home off of 21 in Passaic. There was a dude in full cowboy outfit. This was approximatly 1AM outside a night club. Fun times. The dude rocking the old school LTJ shirt had no idea who they were. That sucks and his friend was angry at me for asking him about it and he started getting vocal. Then the drunk assholes left. Eagan’s a nice bar, but shizzle, it gets way too crowded and hot for my tastes. Plus their IPA had no hops at all, so that stunk.

Leaving the tournament, there was a fun site, a gaggle of highschoolers dancing to 90s hip hop. The only question is Por Que?

The traffic on route 3 was horrible today, but lunch at the Risotto House was amazing. Tomorrow, movies in Hoboken outside and Thursday $1 State Fair. Friday is approaching and that means time to ride to work. I’ve been working up to the 4 mile each way ride by riding the Saddle Brook Park trail. That’s fun.

Adam’s Wedding Plans/Bachelor Party is coming up quicker than I thought. Should be fun!

Something is wrong with this picture!

$29 a pop ends up costing over 40 with ticketmaster’s “convenience fees”! What convenience did they provide me? An empty wallet!

I understand the $1 charge for the show being a outdoor pool/venue in Brooklyn, the conveneince thing sucks, but the $4.90 charge for the printing/41 cents for the stamp. Get outta here.

Everyone needs to write their congressmen/women and see how they can get away with this.

On a lighter note, Jason Collett (from Broken Social Scene) and Tom Cochran (from the 90s) heart Leafygreen and M1K3K. They sent me spam!

Life is a highway!

Someone agrees!

Ah, the listening pile

Long Lost Yodas

and if that is too cute for you and you want to read some shitty story, literally, click here. Thanks to Chris and/or Kim for this one.

Friday Night and today, the recap

Post work, headed into NYC via the PATH from Hoesboken with CED. We headed first off to Blind Tiger Ale House. This lovely gem of a bar reopened in a new location recently after being closed for a while. With approximately 28 beers on draft to choose from, the decisions were tough. We started strong and finished strong. First, the Rouge I2PA. Strong, chock full of hops and sweet. Two Thumbs Up! Then, we had Great Divide Samurai Ale. We didn’t like it, but it was a rice beer, so that was cool. Finally, Acme IPA. I liked it. It’s a pretty standard IPA. Kinda malty.

Left there and had food at Cosi. It took forever for a fast-ish food place. It was OK. I even asked the waiter for the check after sitting around for 20 minutes waiting which I NEVER do. He said “in a minute” We shouldn’t of even paid for the food, but we did and left without even getting the check. Probably paid way too much, but anyway.

Left there and headed to Nevada Smiths for a pint and waited for Forrest to call us. Met Forrest, Jessica and Ian outside Irving. Sold my extra ticket to a beautiful blonde girl for her friend. I should have sold it for more than I did. Hindsight’s 20/20 my friends.

Finally, got into Irving and saw Architecture in Helsinki play. They played mostly new songs, which I liked, then some of the older songs. When they started playing Do The Whirlwind, they totally mashed it up and did a remixed version. It was awesome! I love big bands that switch instruments and play differently on each song.

Left for the drunktank aka The PATH back to Hoesboken and got back to NJ safe and sound.

Today, I rode my bike and was unsuccessful at the Salvation Army. Of to Veggie Heaven soon, then Andy’s. Wish me luck!
