Sure, no problem kind sir. God bless. Where do you live sir? …. OK, no problem, we can have someone out there in a month to pick it up. I don’t think I’ll be home during that morning. If you aren’t going to be home, please just leave it in a location where it can easily be picked up….
So Dave came over to help me bring the perfectly good ikea w/ custom slip covered cushions outside with a little help from a tacobell bribe. We brought it out and it was all good.
I got a call today from the condo prez. She said, Salvation Army drove down the hill into the complex, saw the couch, didn’t even get out, and pulled away. I proceeded to call Salvo’s. Their 973- number apparently was disconnected and their 800- numbers didn’t take me to the knuckle-head operator that I spoke to 4 times yesterday in an effort to verify the pickup of aforementioned couch. After 20 minutes of strugling to reach the Army, i got through to the knuckle-head and the dispatcher dude who called the driver. The driver said over the radio… “The cushions weren’t even da right ones for da couch, yo.” Mr. Dispatcher relayed the loud and clear message to me to which I asked if he ever heard of slip covers. His reply was more of a wookie cough of confusion and said he was sorry sir.
So, now I’m stuck with a couch outside, sort of taking up unused car port space. I called a few other charities/donation places/thrift stores to no avail. I heard someone may want it from work and if not, it will be going out to the trash tomorrow after work.
Moral of the story is that the Salvation Army has some nerve. I shop at thrift stores, especially the one in Paterson where Mr. Driver’s works out of. Their furniture is not the best and some truck driver who doesn’t know what a slip cover is decided it was not in his best interest to pick it up.
For Christ’s sake and the salvation army’s all about god, take the couch. It’s a DONATION!!
PS- This will not deter me from buying shirts from Salvo’s, just donating furniture.
PPS-ANY ONE WANT AN IKEA COUCH/BED?

that was a total kivowitz story dude. here’s your $2.
UPDATES… i emailed salvo’s my issues and they said “Unfortunately we are not able to take all donations. Our drivers are trained to make decisions on what we can and cannot take.”
anyway, i might have a home for it, or it goes to the curb next week
Dude, bring it to dump in Tenafly like i did with the old couch from Behnke!
