Canada Day Summerstage and other music news

Sunday, i headed into NYC to meet up with Lauren and head over to Summerstage at Central Park to see some Canadian musicians rock the park. Jason Collett and Feist, both of the Broken Social Scene scene performed along with Buck 65, who at first i thought was cool. Jason plays an interesting alt.country/folk ala Ryan Adams but with more horns. Feist plays it all. Pop, alt.country, rock, electronica, country, the drums, you name it… and her voice is amazing. Buck 65 is a strange spoken word poet who also happens to spin, yes on the 1 and 2’s, with a two-piece of sibling musicians who play drums, guitars, flute and recorder. It gets old quick, but the first two songs pieces are interesting nonetheless.

I did score a Canadian flag for our office.

I also downloaded the Adam’s Not Funny record which was posted online. It’s always interesting seeing local NJ bands from yesteryear posted on torrent sites. i love when there are torrents for the Oi Scouts and One Cool Guy. It always makes me happy.
